ISLAND OF THE LIZARD KING

One of my favourites... A very unusual story, with a new background : a tropical island, ruled by a fantastic creature, the lizard king. It's a great change from the classical medieval-fantastic background. There's something wild in this adventure : a tropical island with a vulcano, a cave girl, another girl with a big tiger, a primitive tribe and a vaudou wizard, an army of lizard creatures and, best of all, the lizard king, greatly illustrated on the book cover.
This adventure is definitively different by it's atmosphere but the story is different too. No beautiful princess to help, no fabulous treasure to find, no world to save. You must end the reign of the lizard king, and if you're alone at the beginning, you will have the opportunity to find friends and to create an army, for a terrific final battle.
This book is sometimes difficult (your ennemies are often strong and determined), but it's a real challenge. One of the most wild, epic and powerful story of FIGHTING FANTASY !

The book is fine for beginners. I read it after too many classic gamebooks and found it quite boring.

I love this book and his beautiful tropical atmosphere, a great classic simply.

I believe Ian Livingstone's books are appropriate for beginners, and Steve Jackson's for those with more experience.
